Title I Funding
Title I Funding in the United States
Title I funding is money that comes from the federal government to support students in underprivileged communities, who may not be afforded the same opportunities as others.
The amount of money received vary by state. The amount of funding is dependent on how many families are low-income in a district.
Title I is the largest federally funded program for elementary, middle and high schools.
Funding comes from the U.S. Department of Education.
State Education Agencies (SEA) can apply for money with the U.S. Dept. of Ed., where it comes in the form of grants.
The SEAs can then delegate to Local Education Agencies, where the LEAs go through the same process of applying for Title I grants.
LEAs then can distribute to the individual schools in their districts based on needs.
